They also had 5 children from Edward's first marriage to Ellen McCarthy. It is noted on Lucy's headstone that she was "Devoted mother to 10 children", so which child am I missing? Any help gladly received.

Edward's first family
Edward Joseph Boyle and Ellen McCarthy were married in 1869. They had five children before Ellen died in 1875. These children were; Emily Phyllis 1870-1953, who married John O'keefe in Lismore in 1891; Hugh 1871-? ; Anastasia T. 1872-1901, who married Henry W. Two years later in 1877, Edward married Lucy Ann Simpson, and in 1881 the family, now with 2 more children, Edward William and Ellen Augusta, travelled to the northern rivers and selected the property named "Tyrone" at St. Helena.
Background to the event
2011 will be the 130th anniversary of the selection and settlement of our family farm, Tyrone at St Helena. Edward Boyle and his wife, Lucy Ann Simpson, travelled here in 1881, with 7 children, ( 2 born of Lucy and 5 born of Edward's first wife, Ellen McCarthy) Lucy bore 7 more children between 1884 and 1898. The last, born in 1898, was the present Richard's grandfather, Richard Kevin Boyle, known as Dick. Our grandchildren are the 6th generation to live on the farm. All friends and relatives are invited to set aside the date, 9th July, 2011 to join us for this celebration of family.
